Question:
Can anyone recommend a LOW CARB (less than 4 carbs per serving) protein bar

That doesn't taste like dog food?    — cherryswitch (posted on April 12, 2003)

Honestly, every BODY is different. For instance, I like the EAS Carb Control chocolate brownie chip (3 gms effective carbs) and like the think thin bars - fudge lite, pnut butter lite and s'mores (3 gms effective carbs). I know alot of folks who like the Atkins Advantage bars and AMWAY has an awesome orange cream and chocolate mint if you know someone who sells AMWAY. I have never tasted dog food so not sure about that but have had some pretty bad protein bars. It is a case of trial and error to find the ones that work. I had to do the same thing with the protein shakes. I finally found one that I like and I stick with it. Good luck in your research. Rita in Vermont

I just bought one called KETO , it was peanut butter and to my surprise it was very good. I also bought the protein shake but I haven't tried it yet. The Atkins bars are pretty good too, especially the Choc. Mocha Crunch, yum.

The best ones I can get locally are Advant Edge (not the Atkins Advantage), either in cookies and cream or chocolate brownie, and Carb Solution in chocolate peanut butter. Of course, the Detour bar is great, just like a snickers bar, but even though it's high in protein, it's also high in carbs.

hiya! i get mine at Trader Joe's and LOVE them...they are called: "Think Thin! Low Carb Diet" and are for diabetics. i eat the chunky peanut butter lite, it has soy protein nuggets and peanut pieces... the nutritional breakdown is: (for 1 bar--i eat maybe 1/2 at a time): 250 calories, 10g total fat, total carbs 22 but 20 are non impact carbs so only 2 "count", 0 g sugar, 20g protein... good luck! kate

Try Atkins protein bars. They are taste great, have on 1-2 grams of carbs and easy to chew.

i don't know what dog food tastes like, however, many, if not most protein supplements taste foul to me (as well as all dairy products, however, the atkins advantage bars are ok, not great, but, ok..... and the strive bars are very good, at least to MY taste. now, atkins rates in at: 240 calories, 0g sugars, 20g total carbs, and 20g protein. not bad at all, however, the strive bars rate in at: 190 calories, 0g sugars, 24 g total carbs, and 20g protein. the taste and the 50 calorie savings per bar made it more attractive to me, however, it can be harder to find, and i've seen the price vary more than a dollar, depending on the area, the store and i would suppose the phase of the moon.
