Question:
Has anyone used EAS Protein Supplements after surgery?
In particular EAS - SimplyProtein Complete Whey. It should provide 20-21 grams of protein per serving. Is that close to optimal? Any feed back is appreciated. Thanks! — isumpin (posted on November 17, 2002)

Hi there! Yes I have used them and they always make me throw up! I would
stay away from them, they have way too much sugar in them. There are much
better choices out there on the market. You need to shop around and look
at the nutritional content. I would first and foremost talk to you surgeon
about what they reccommend. Mine says no more than 240 cals per serving
with minimum of 20gm of Protein. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I take the EAS low carb (low or no sugar) myoplex in chocolate fudge or
vanilla in the individual pouch. The chocolate one is better and I hate
most proteins. I mix one serving pouch with 1 cup of skim milk, 1 cup of
ice, 1 big dollup of smooth peanut butter and presto! It's like a peanut
butter cup milkshake...the only one, out of about 50 proteins, that I can
tolerate.

I use the EAS Advantage Carb Control Ready to Drink shakes. I like the
chocolate and vanilla the best. I sometimes put some cinnamon in the
vanilla one. It is so easy to take them to work this way. One 11 oz shake
only has 110 calories and 2 carbs. Less than one gram og sugar. They also
have 15 grams of protein. This seems to be enough for me as long as I eat
my protein first with my meals. I also just tried the Atkins ready to
drink shakes. They are great. They have 170 calories 5 carbs and 20 grams
of protein. Very tasty.

absolutely, I think the chocolate and vanilla are great. I do use a little
more
water per serving though. I don't like them too thick. With only 2 grs of
sugar per
serving and 20 grs. of protein I think they are a great way to add protein.
I know a
lot of folks that have lost a considerable amt. of weight using these
without having
the surgery.

hiya. immediately post op i tried the EAS Myoplex but i threw it up (along
with Protopure, IsoPure and Met-Rx!) but recently started using EAS
Advantage Strength Series Chocolate Whey protein by adding it to my coffee
along with the soy protein i use and i've had no problems. i've heard some
ppl say that EAS has too much sugar but the one i use doesn't and it has
23g of protein as opposed to the EAS Advantage "regular" whey
protein which has 20g of protein. i buy mine at wal-mart for like $9.
good luck!

I have used this exclusively since my surgery. In the morning, I take 4
ice cubes, 2 oz milk, 2 oz water, 1/2 cup blueberries, and 3 scoops of the
protein powder and blend them up. I drink this every morning. It's about
35 grams of protein powder, which is half my daily allotment, and is all a
person cna metabolize at one time. I alos use the protein bars.
