Question:
I AM CONFUSED, I DON'T KNOW .........................
whenever i eat meat or cheese or eggs, bagels, it gets stuck and i throw it up. but then i eat tomatoes, popcorn, light breads, pasta and it goes down fine.... i always assumed that certain foods just didn't agree with me and it would take time......... the thing that confuses me is i have had 2 strictures, and that is the feeling i get when something doesn't agree with me. i had my stoma checked just last week and i don't have another stricture, so why do only certain things not go down? is that how it is supposed to be. before when i ate something that didn't agree, my tummy would hurt, now it just dosn't go down. and i do chew enough and i eat very slow. Hi, Tica -
I don't have an answer to your question, but I read your profile and have
to say WOW! You are an inspiration. I hope that once this gets taken care
of, the rest of your post op is uneventful!
Take care,

Tica, Tica, Tica. Whats UP! Thanks for the tip on the dressing---LOVE IT!
Anyways, give it time! I know, easy for me to say...but you're still
pretty new. It was a long time until I could eat eggs~ even then, I
learned I can't tolerate them when they're scrambled! I could see why
bagels don't agree with you. Probably too heavy. But, when I had my
dental surgery, and I couldn't eat solids, but yet, I wasn't allowed to
live on liquids (??), Angie S told me to get some of the Spaghettio's, Chef
Boyardee canned foods. Yes, high fat and calories~ but high in protein
though. This could be a temporary solution until you're capable of keeping
your food down, yet still getting some nutrition. P.S., LOVED the
celebrity Email!

Hey Tica. I am also a 2x stricture 'survivor';~). I thought that after my
second one was dilated that it had closed up too tight because I couldn't
tolerate a lot of solids. It would hurt like it was when it had closed up.
I almost went in for the 3rd time when my surgeon suggested waiting it out
a bit. I did that (was mad at the time, I wanted something done!), but
eventually was able to tolerate more and more. I actually just ate chicken
for the first time last night (5 months post-op) and it went down easy. I
have been really hesitant in trying it earlier because of the pain that it
caused when I had my strictures. I may have been able to tolerate earlier,
but too afraid to try. In time it will loosen up for you and you will be
able to tolerate more. I have also just attempted and am successful at
swallowing the Citrical tablets whole. I was amazed. I didn't think that
would EVER happen. I hope things get better for you soon. After skimming
your profile, it looks like you have been through the wringer. Sorry to
hear about your little friends. I hope you find some new babies. If you
need to talk 'stricture talk', email me. Take care.
