Question:

I had a successful Lap RNY and my body is sore, but that is it. No trouble at all with any liquids, puddings etc...from all my research, things are going real smooth now. I do want to know the BEST tasting BEST for you protein drink to get. Please let me know what one is best...I would like much input so I can see what ones people like. Thanks so much......Patricia    — Patricia C. (posted on February 11, 2001)

problend and proscore are the best tasting. also met rx single serve packets are good. you definitely want a whey protein as it will offer the most grams with the least sugar or carbs.

I'd check on the Vitalady site: http://www.vitalady.com/ She has had WLS surgery and is really up on all the stuff we need.

I use Designer Protein Strawberry. It has 90 calories and 17.5 g of protein. I add 1/2 to 3/4 package of equal to it and it tastes like a strawberry shake made that way. I have also added 1/4 of a banana to it to change the flavor as well when I get bored. I have one when I get up, one after I work out and one before bed. It helps me ensure that I am getting all my proteins in. You can purchase it at GNC which makes it more convienient than having to email someone or ordering online.

I have used the Designer Protein since my surgery almost 8 months ago. I tried a LOT of them, and this has been the only one I really like. I use 2 scoops of either the vanilla or strawberry powder, mixed with water, juice, or sometimes milk and coffee. If I am in a rush, or at the gym, I really like the Ultimate Pure Pro - a fruit flavored drink w/40 g. of protein. But, it's a big bottle and takes me a while to drink (like half an hour or so).

I've done alot of checking into the best protein drinks out there. The best one I like is Atkins Protein Drink, powder form. It has the highest protein content (23 grams per serving) out of all the drinks and is sugar free and lactose free and 1 carb per serving. I hope this helps you find the best drink for you, good luck on your weight loss!!

I ALSO TRIED MANY OF THE PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS AND POWDERS. THRU THE VITALADY I FOUND PROCELL POWDER. WHAT IS COOL ABOUT THIS IS THAT IT MIXES WITH EITHER HOT OR COLD BEVERAGES OR MEDIUMS (I.E., MIXES INTO COTTAGE CHEESE, YOGURT, PUDDING, OATMEAL, POTATOES, SUGAR FREE FRUIT DRINKS). IT'S REALLY GOOD - NO BLENDER REQUIRED!

HI! Everyone has their own tastes and you'll probably have to try several before you find what you like best. I've tried many of the suggestions here, but my favorite so far is TwinLab's Ironman Protein Shake (Chocolate Fudge). It has 16 gr. of whey protein per scoop. I usually have one scoop with 8-10 oz. skim milk and a half packet of CIB. You can mix with water too, but I prefer milk. It is relatively inexpensive too. I get it at Walgreens for around $12 for 19 servings.

I like the Pro Blend 55 Strawberry, i takes 2 scoops and is 55 grams of protein, I mix it in a blender with 4 cubes of ice, to make a smooth drink. I get it at GNC , If you purchase $30.00 or more you get a 20 percent discount, and a gold card for super Tuesday, Or you can get many Gold cards if you do not go on super Tues. Once a month. I also use Pro Proformance choc & Vanilla, it has 21 grams of protein for 1 scoop.

My favorite is ProScore 100 chocolate -- rich, creamy, chocolately w/o any aftertaste! Next up is Extreme Pure Pro (powder) in grape flavor -- taste and consistency of Kool-Aid (no kidding). For a change of pace, I like vanilla ProScore 100 with a smidge of Sugar-free Jello pudding mix (for a vanilla milkshake), S/F cherry Kool-aid (for cherry vanilla), S/F Tang (for an orange creamsicle), or diet root beer (for a root beer float). Whichever brand you choose, mix it so that each serving has no more than about 30 gm of protein (we can't absorb more than that at a time) and that you've mixed it with water or other sugar free liquid, not milk or juice (adds too many calories and too much sugar). You can get these at GNC, but prices are better through www.vitalady.com (and she also sells samples for $1.50 each), www.nutripeak.com, or www.netrition.com. I'd rather have a milkshake than a burger any day!
