Question:
Pizza- can i ever eat it again?
I have been craving pizza a lot lately. I am 4 months out and have lost 100lbs. Do you think pizza would really hurt me??? — angelndskyz (posted on September 28, 2005)

As a steady diet its a bad food choice, but as a occasional treat should be
fine, eat mostly the toppings like cheese and pepperoni, to maximize the
protein.

We all know pizza is not a great food choice. I have it once a week. One
or two tiny pieces. And I am 3 years out RNY. I did not tolerate it for
the first year at all. The thin crust is most aggreable. You are only 4
months out? 100 lns already! WOW! If your family has some pizza, try a
little cheese off the top. CHEESE WAS ALWAYS MY FRIEND. Fatty yes, but
tolerable and good protein. Eat it very slow. Bread and grease, sugar is
still a problem for me, and thank goodness it is! One reason I had this
surgery was to change such things. Anytihng in small doses is usually ok.
What we learn from WLS is moderation, elimination of poor choices.
Congrats on your success!

I eat it once in a while. Thin crust only, the thick crust makes me feel
bloated and the toppings are my fav part anyways. Did you know if you blot
the top of your pizza with a paper towel or napkin you remove about 30% of
the fat??? I can only eat 1-2 small pieces anyways, a far cry from the days
of polishing off 1/2 a large pizza.

Well I have eaten pizza, but a piece of pizza sent me to the emergency room
last night with a gallbladder attack. Unfortuneatly it is something that
happens to us after the gastric bypass so be careful because I was in a lot
of pain last night. I had the surgery on April 29th and mine is already
going bad.

For my first seven months, i found that just picking the cheese off the top
was enough for me - and I could only eat about a tablspoon of that! Now I
eat about 1/8 of a small slice- if that. I have almost a whole slice of
white pizza in my fridge from four days ago. Tomato slice is high in
sugar, so I save a little by not eating the regular pizza.
At four months out (wow, you sure have lost a lot!), I would say try a
little of the cheese.

I am five months out, I do like pizza toppings but find the crust a real
problem.
I would suggest a few goldfish crackers, they have a pizza flavor.
I loved pizza before my sugery but find it not worth it.

My husband has found single serving low carb pizza in the freezer section
of the grocery store. It has a thin crust, made with soy protien base
flour, and low fat mozzarella cheese. You might try it.
