Question:
Is there nayone who has not needed a TT or any other kind of PS?

All- I am truley amazed at some of the results of these WLS ppl, i can only hope that i am just as lucky to look as good. But,i find it hard to believe that some of these women have flat stomachs with no skin hanging, without surgery. If this true please please tell me how, so after my surgery i know what to do, because i cant afford to have a TT. ?? Curious    — Darlene B. (posted on May 11, 2005)

I haven't heard of any that did not need SOME ps. My stomach is not as bad as my lower body but there is still a pouch there. When I am wearing clothes...all the skin is stuck in and held in place so is not nearly as noticeable as when I am naked. Also, jeans and more supportive clothes hold it in better. When I wear leggings I either just live with the poochie stomach or wear a long shirt to kind of hide it. Also, the younger you are and the fewer stretch marks and the less amount of time you have been overweight all affect the skin and how it recovers from the weight loss. The older you are, the more stretch marks, etc...the less likely it is to snap back into place. Good Luck!! Carmen

Darlene, I AM one of those that did not need ANY plastic surgery. I have lost 157 lbs. My suggestion to you is protein drinks. I have researched it through and through. Protein helps with skin elasticity. I also moisturize like a freak! LOL I have slathered my whole my body since surgery with baby oil when I get out of the shower and then lotion. I do situps religously. If you don't want hanging skin that is ultimately up to you to exercise to avoid this at all costs. With that being said, if you have a large stomach now, then more than likely you will need a TT. Most do darlin and I am in the minority. Insurance can and will cover TT's for various reasons. I don't think this needs to be a worry at this point since you haven't had surgery yet. Don't get me wrong, I don't have washboard abs or anything but I don't have hanging skin. Now, the boobs are a WHOLE different story! LOL I wish you well in your journey sweetie! Hugs....Erika

I am also one of the lucky ones I guess. I was 252lbs and lost 102. I still want to lose about 25 more, but it would need to be from my legs. I have always carried my weight from the waist down, but not in my stomach. My bottom and legs were huge. I have stretch marks on my stomach (pretty low) from two pregnancies but can easily were a two piece swim suit with no flabby skin. If I ever needed any reconstructive surgery, I would agree with a previous poster and say it would be a breast lift. The girls arn't as pirky as they were before, but then I am not as young as I once was either. I figure I am 37, they nursed two babies so I just buy really good bras! Best of luck Angela

i do not need plastic surgery. i have a little saggy skin but nothing hangs over. I am 57. I have never exercised and was already sagging a little due to age. My girls are hardly noticeable but I was small chested anyway. If I ever had any plastic surgery, I would have a face lift.

Unfortunately, I am not one of the lucky ones that doesn't need plastics, and though i haven't gone there yet, a tt and a lift are in the future. . Whether you will need plastics or not is a combination of the following: previous pregnancies (none is best), age (younger is better), how long you have been overweight (the least amount of time your skin has been stretched out the better), your genes (some are just lucky), smoking (none is best). While there are exceptions to these, for the most part they hold true. When I was younger and would lose large amounts of weight, tummy skin bounced right back. Not this time.
