I can't speak from experience yet, my surgery is 59 days away, but from everything I've read, it varies from person to person. I know a few people personally who have had WLS and it seems to be the same with them. Something one can tolerate another can't. Sorry it's not a clinical answer but maybe it'll help. Nancy

I can tolerate watermelon, but can't tolerate cantelopue or honeydew. Each person is different on what he/she can tolerate. Good luck!!

I love watermelon and eat it as much as I can. The reason you are hurting is that you swallow more air when you eat watermelon than you do with other fruits. I have to crunch it in my mouth, then let the air out before swallowing any of it. It is hard to do and you get juice all over you, but it is worth it! LOL!

I will tell you I had major dumping on fruit when I tried it. I didn't try it again until about 2 months ago. I have tried mellon, berries, and bananas and have been fine. The last fruit I dumped on was apples and watermellon and I have yet to try them

Watermelon contains 25g sugar per 2 C. My technical limit is 6g per meal, per my doc. That's not about dumping, that's about wt loss. I can tell you that fruit sugar is just as deadly as the real thing. I gained 8# in short order from deciding that fruit was a "safe" food for me. And then spent 4 months trying to get the carb demon back under control. If you don't tolerate fruit, I surely wouldn't knock myself out to do so. I can have a small fruit once/day. Any more than that & I'm back into the thick of battle again with carbs & wt gain. That said, of course, there is nothing I want more. sigh
