Susi, it will depend on the type of insurance you have... is yous a PPO or
HMO? If you are PPO, most likely you can make an appt with the surgeon of
your choice if he is on your plan, otherwise, they will pay "out of
network" benefits. If you are HMO, see your PCP first and ask for a
referral to a surgeon on your plan. Good luck!

Susi...I noticed on your profile you have Aetna PPO listed as your
insurance. Like the previous poster said, as long as you have a PPO all
you need to do is make an appointment for a consultation with a surgeon.
My insurance company is Pro-America, PPO and it has all gone very smoothly,
and quickly. I called to make sure the doctor I wanted to see was in
network. Once I found out she was I made an appointment. I was approved
in less then 4 weeks. The letter I got from my insurance said I was
approved and I would be required to pay my deductible, $400, plus an
additional $600, for out of pocket expenses. In other words, my max out of
pocket expenses will be $1000. Isn't that great!!! I will pay $1000 for a
$30,000 surgery. If you have any other questions, please feel free to
email me...Best of luck!
