Question:
Another low protein intake question
I've been having an issue with an aversion to protein as far as any type of food goes. I am just about 4 months out and have always liked protein shakes but lately (past week or so) I have been finding that everything with protein tastes horrible to me including shakes. This is relatively new but seems to be getting worse by the day. Normally I eat 5-6 mini meals a day but since this aversion started it's dwindled to barely 3. Yesterday I started a protein drink for breakfast and didn't finish even a third (I felt nauseous). For lunch I had a salad and some hummus and that was okay. For dinner I had chicken and beans. I was doing okay with the beans until I took a bite of chicken and felt ill. It was a good chicken that the family was eating and enjoying but when I tasted it it tasted horrible to me. The day before I ate about a quarter of a Detour bar and couldn't eat any more so I tried to take a bite of one of those and it wouldn't go down. So I didn't eat anything for hours. I finally wound up eating a bowl of special k with a banana before I went to sleep because I was too hungry to sleep and it was the only thing (besides popsicles) I could keep down. It's not pain (like a stricture) but just plain nausea and the feeling that I am going to vomit anything that is even remotely protein related. I hope this passes soon. I haven't lost any weight in weeks and I'm convinced it's because I'm not eating enough. I don't know what to do. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I need to just let it pass? I had the same problem. And thankfully it did pass. I lost alot of hair
and as soon as the protein increased, the hair loss stopped. I drink the
real meals shakes one in the morning and one when I get home from work to
keep me from munching while I get dinner ready. I pour a glass of sugar
free tang and add a half of packet of chocolate, it is so good, tastes like
them round orange flavored chocolates that are so popular at Christmas
time. I mix the vanilla with any flavor of sugar kool-aid. But it took me
a while to tolerate them, my stomache would feel really queezy. Not sure
why it does that, but, YES, this too shall pass. Good luck to you!
