Question:
Does anyone take daily antibiotics?
Before surgery I was on Minocyclin for adult acne. I've always been on this or some form of cycline my adult life. My surgeon said to wait after surgery because perhaps with the dietary change my complexion would clear. That was true for the first 3 months but suddenly I'm all broken out again. I won't return to it without his approval but I was wondering if anyone else takes antibiotics and what kind and in what form. Thanks. — susanje (posted on April 12, 2003)

I don't take antibiotics, but I can't help but wonder if there is something
you have added back to your diest that is causing the acne to come back.
I've noticed something similar, in that my migraine headaches are starting
to return at 8 months post op. I'm wondering if it is because I am eating
more carbohydrates and some sugars that I couldn't eat before.

I am 7 months post op and am on minocyclin for rosacea. My surgeon told me
to take it with a hot drink to dissolve the capsule. I had stopped taking
it for a few weeks right after surgery, but it wasn't long before I started
to show symptoms again. Good luck! Valerie 8/26/02 275/195/??

I also take minocycline (100mg daily)for rosacea. I changed from
tetracycline before suregery because my iron negates it. I did try taking
it three times a week versus daily for a time, but have recently gone back
to daily dosages. That three months was likely your 'honeymoon' period..
when many of us post ops experience a 'remission' from various health
problems. Ask your PCP about minocycline and if you're not already using a
topical.. check out Metrocream.. it's great! Also remember to wear your
sunscreen, no matter what the weather.. I really ADORE Eucerin Daily
Defense. *G* The 'red mask' CAN be vanquished! ~Peace
