Question:
Optimum Daily Dosages of Iron, Calcium and B12
I was wondering what the recommended daily doses are for these 3 vitamins at 8 weeks postop. Is there any reason to increase (like if you were anemic before surgery or your age or any thing else). Thanks. — susanje (posted on March 6, 2003)

Your age/gender has nothing to do with your need, really. It might over
time, but for your starter, no. It's more the HOW of it, than the WHY of
it. The why is the bypassing of your lower stomach & such. The food
doesn't go there any more. The iron needs to be supplemented (with C),
but not with ferrous sulfate. The calcium needs to be calcium citrate (+ D
+ mag). The B12 has to be OTHER than swallowed, such as sublingual or
injection. Those are the main issues.
