Question:
I have lost 130 pounds and will be considering plastic surgery. What is the
difference between a abdominalplasty and a panniceutomy (misspelled)? Thanks, Judy — Judy W. (posted on February 19, 2003)

A pannilectomy basically just removes the skin an abdominoplasty removes
the skin and tightens up the muscles, but some doctors will do the muscle
tightening yet still call it a pannilectomy. This may be for insurance
purposes. You should talk to your doctor and find out exactly what he is
going to do.

Just to clarify, the terms are panniculectomy and
abdominoplasty.

I had a "lipectomy". Liposuction, skin removal, and muscle
tightening. I lost 10 lbs and am as flat as a washboard! Also got a new
cute "inny" belly button!!! I love it! I never heard of one
before visiting my dr, but it is great! I got pics if anyone is intrested
