Question:
Do you stop between bites?
I was speaking with someone the other day who said that she takes 8 bites in 20 minutes when eatin meat or fish and about 8 bites in 15 minutes for other types of food. I didn't ask any questions at the time but started thinking about it later and I eat faster than that. I take very small bites and chew very very well. I haven't been told to wait in between bites or to time it and didn't know where she got this guideline of 8 bites in 20 minutes. Does anyone else use a formula like this and do you wait a specific number of minutes between bites? — susanje (posted on February 9, 2003)

I set a timer and take bites every five minutes. I am trying to get out of
the habit of taking big bites (yes, I do use a baby fork, but I still fork
as much as I can!!)Things feel much better when I wait and I dont throw up
if I keep my bites small.

I take really small bites, and make sure I chew well and swallow before I
take another bite, but I don't wait any certain amount of time...I still
get full in about 15 minutes, and with 2 or 3 oz's. (Open RNY 12/26/02
