Question:
Has anyone tried the Mandarin Chicken Salad from Wendy's?
Just curious to see if anyone has tried it, and what the results were - good or bad... — Haley G. (posted on February 3, 2003)

Haley, I had that salad preop quite a bit and LOVED it! I don't know total
protein, carbs, or calories, but I have thought about having one sometime
soon with low fat dressing instead of the (WONDERFUL) dressing they give
you with it. I know you can check out wendys.com for detailed nutritional
info but in terms of taste - I thought it was yummy!~

I tried it several months ago when I was pre-op. Although it was good, I
thought it was too high. A better value is McDonald's Salad shakers.

I too ate the salad pre-op and loved it...of course I had to have extra of
that awesome dressing on mine!!! But I eat it now, with some low fat
dressing and it's still just as good...I can eat about half of it, and have
the other half the next day.

Ceaser, it is loke 450 calories and 40g of protein, I am in LOVE!

The salad is wonderful...it makes a couple of meals for me. BUT please be
careful of the dressing they offer with it. It's QUITE high in sugar
content. Instead try a lowfat sweet dressing that you know you can tolerate
with the salad itself. Or make your own salad at home with the same
ingredients. Yum!

I seem to be one who has eaten it with the dressing! Very little at a time
of course. It could have lasted 2-3 meals. I loved the almonds and
mandarine oranges and lettuce more than the chicken as chicken still
doesn't settle too well at 19 months post-op. I haven't had it in a while,
but it was something I could eat out besides chili. My kids usually shared
it with me too. I would just get out a little in a bowl..making sure I got
the almonds and a bit of dressing, couple of bites of chicken and some
oranges. Good luck...we are all so different in what we can tolerate. I am
tolerate about 14 grams of sugar at a pop, but beyond that ...yuk!

I can only eat less than half, but LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT dressing and
all. I figure even with eating regular dressing I am only taking in about
800 cal a day, and have lost half the weight I want to in 4 months so it
isn't hurting me.

Hi there, Haley! I love that salad! I usually have their low-fat
dressing, instead of what it comes with., but it si still great. It's good
for a couple of meals. Yummy! Vi. open RNY 9/23/02 down 101 lbs

I haven't had the salad since before surgery but remember looking at the
nutrioncial information on the salad dressing and thinking I should of had
a hamburger. The sesame dressing has a lot of calories and over 25 grams
of fat. I really like the chicken BLT salad and it comes with a light
honey mustard dressing. ** kelly

I'm 4 months out, had it last week, took about 5 bites mostly chicken with
the dressing and got sick. I think it was the dressing because I usually
have good luck with salads even with dressing.
