Hey Tammy, Ok, this is some of what I tried at that stage...which does not mean your Dr. would approve, but sometimes we have to "try" things on our own...lol..ok, I would eat Tomato soup, mashed potatos with gravy, Cream of broccoli soup.... I would cook a Chicken Pot Pie and just eat the "soup" part of that....I also got Banquet Cheese Enchelada (SP) dinners and at the cheese out of the middle (Mmmmmm good). Anything that you can cook that makes a sauce or a gravy I would think would be legal. Of course, I also lived on SF jello and SF popsicles. Hope this helps a little. Love and light,

For the creamy or mush part of the journey don't let your brain get stuck in the boring mode. Here are some suggestions: Egg salad, tuna salad, the inside of a deviled crab with cocktail sauce, pintos and cheese from taco bell, mashed potatoes, soft cheese spreads, deviled ham, deviled chicken, whipped sweet potatoes, carrot souffle, spinich souffle, eggs-omlets, soft boiled scrambled, pureed fruits, pureed casseroles, I also found nancy's quiche appitizers (they are tiny and good). Just remember no chucks!!!! and chew ,chew, chew PS. don't swallow too fast :) Good luck on your journies!

I guess my doctor is one of the very few who for some reason or the other puts us on a strict CREAMY FOODS diet -- most of the foods you guess wrote about are ones that I can't have until my SOFT food diet...even mashed potatoes are on the no-no list until after week 7... I think that is what is so hard about this whole thing... because I could probably live off of the foods you guys suggested but he says we can't have them until after our 7 week checkup....

It would likely help if you could define "Creamy foods" as I've never heard the term in relation to a food stage for WLS. Lord knows, I haven't heard them all but...is it like pureed? Obviously it's not soft foods (as you've pointed out previously) but if it's pureed then mashed taters and gravy would qualify under every docs diet I've read about...as would tuna and egg salads. Guess I've just no clue what to tell you unless he just means it has to be the consistency of a cream soup. perhaps runny hot cereal? Do you have a dietician or nutritionist you could ask about a more varied diet?

Yes Ruth - you are right - he does want us on cream/runny soups... nothing else... I think it is strange too since all other doctors move people on to the "mushed" stage.. I totally love my doctor - so I'm not bashing him - it is just that you run out of creamy/runny foods to have!! ANd I'm looking for other ideas - so that is why I wanted to see about the Crab Bisque - since it is cream and crab...Cream of potatoe, cream of mushroom, cream of chicken.. etc.... those things -- oh yeah - we can have cream of wheat for breakfast!

Most all the foods everyone has mentioned here would be in the pureed food diet area. Creamy foods are just that......creamy foods. Creamy soups, creamy gravy (low-fat, of course). The main thing about this stage of eating is that there must not be any small pieces in it. Most doctors/facilities would call this the full liquid stage, but you should ask your doctor to clarify. I'd say that crab bisque would be fine, but you should run it through a fine mesh/wire strainer to be sure that you are just getting the creamy stuff, without any tiny bits or pieces of crab, veggies or spices. Good luck!

I sure wish you all the luck in the world...I had trouble following my own doctors generous ideas and broke with the "diet" as soon as I thought I could safely. Made that poor man roll his eyes a lot at me :>) I sure think under your docs definition that your crab bisque would qualify...making sure there are not chunks in it larger than a pencil eraser. Good luck!

My Doctor had similiar restrictions and after 3 weeks I needed something more than pureed foods. Try Mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, chicken noodle soup with crackers, yogurt, cheese sat real well with me too. Obviously it hasn't effected me, I am 3 months post-op and have lost 80lbs=)

I'd say it would be ok as long as you didn't use HEAVY cream... that may make you dump... try lite cream or milk... skim milk probably wouldn't make a thick soup though. Make sure your veggies & meats are chopped small and that you really cook the veggies - not so really for the crab because it'll make it too hard & stringy.
