Question:
Can I still take my hormones
I'm 5 days post-op Lap-RNY - doing great so far... feeling a little weak but nothing too bad -- I've lost 15 pounds so far so I'm excited.. My question is can I take my hormone pills(Estradial 2 mg daily) or has anyone heard of a Hormone Cream which is compounded by the pharmasicist -- I have script for it and used it in the past - and it was wonderful - however it contains Testerone, Pregrestrin(sp?) and Estrogen - since pills aren't absorbed totally in the new pouch and might even harm it -- what do you think about the creams - which are totally absorbed into the skin???? I stopped my hormones (Estratest) after last year's study. Even though it
wasn't the more natural hormones in the study, I wanted to ask my gyn
before resuming and I haven't seen her. I do wish I had my hormones back
but haven't resumed them because I'm considering this surgery. I have
thought about the creams in light of this surgery and if you want more
information, I find out a lot of stuff at http://www.menopause-online.com.
The women on the message boards are VERY VERY helpful.

Hi Tammy, I had Lap RNY 10/25/02 and started back on my Estradial the day I
got home from the hospital. Good luck to you, Toni

Many of the hormone pills are time released and they don't absorb in our
system with the new pouches. Ask your doctor if you can get a patch. Most
of the hormones come in patches now. I don't know about the creams, but
they sound like they would work.
