Question:
Think I need more iron, 9 months post-op and 1 month pregnant...
Hi! I am about 6 weeks pregnant, with the blessing of my surgeon, PCP and Ob/GYN (timing was right at this moment). I go to see my OB for my first visit on Thursday. I'm doing ok except that I had a fainting spell yesterday. When I had them with my last pregnancy, it was from either not being hydrated enough, not eating enough, or low iron. I'm religious about drinking and eating now so know that wasn't the problem. Had blood work done 1 1/2 months ago, my iron was ok but toward the low end of OK. I'm going to ask them to check it for my Thursday. OK, my question is - what type of iron do we post-ops best absorb? I've seen posted on the board that Ferrous Sulfate isn't the way to go. What should I be telling my OB that I need for iron? I will be his first WLS patient, and he's fine with that (he is such a great guy!), but what to help inform him too. THANKS!!! =) Sarah — Sarah C. Chromagen Forte, Trinsicon or Niferex Forte. I believe the're all
prescription and have folic acid and B vits added. They won't make you
sick or constipated either. Good luck & congratulations!

Hi!
I took SlowFe. I found out I was pregnant 8 months post-op. That is what
my ob/gyn suggested.

SlowFe made me sick as a dog. But, obviously, YMMV.

Just wondering did he check your potassium levels too? that can cause
fainting, lightheadedness and weakness. Doesn't hurt to have a CMP.

Hi Rosemary, they did check my potassium levels and those were OK. Thanks!
