I added a bananna to my protein shake one month post. I would put protein
powder, crush ice and 1/2 bananna and skim milk in a blender and boy was it
delicious. It was the only way I could stand that shake another day. It
tasted like a bananna shake....and I got in all my protein..... Enjoy.

Ask your doctor. I am 2 months out and I can't have them yet. Doc says 2
more months and any fruit. I tried one anyway and got sick. See what your
doctor says.

I eat bananas and I am just 11 days post-op. I have also had a little bit
of canned (lite) fruit. My dietician doesn't limit our food. Only thing
they say to limit is sugar. Now, there are some foods we can't eat anymore
(the ones that are hard to digest), but they encourage us to have natural
fruit in our menus.

Every surgeon has different rules so I believe you should follow what
he/she advises. I was allowed anything once home from the hospital using
caution. Meaning chewing well, not drinking w/eating, and watching sugars
and fats.

I was allowed to add banana to my diet at months two through four. A
medium banana is 28 grams of carbs so I only eat 1/2 at a time since I like
to limit my carb intake.

hi there :) every surgeon has differerent advice. mine wanted liquids or sf
jello first week. then puried. then soft foods. i think you may be able to
handle the concistency of the nanna but may not handle the suger. on the
other hand, you may not be effected by the sugar at all or maybe this new
out you wouldnt. my surgeon just stressed to take it slow when trying
something new and chew chew chew! :) best of luck :)

I was allowed bananas during the pureed/soft foods stage. I just mashed it
with a fork and it was heaven! Gave me energy too!

I was given a banana 3 days post op in the hospital - figured if their
dietician thought it was okay, I could have them when I got home. I'm now
almost 3 weeks post op and have been eating bananas as part of my regular
diet, with no problems digesting as long as I chew it up real good.

My surgeon told me NOT to eat bananas at all. According to him they are
too high in sugar for any benefit we get. I can eat any other fruit
though.

Try the banana, When my husband and I were post op and on the pureed diet
stage, we mashed a (ripe) banana and mixed it with some peanut butter. It
was wonderful, and the pb added protein. Just make sure the banana is
ripe, if it has any green on it, it doesn't mix well with the pb. Good
luck.
