Question:
2 questions - 1 about water and 1 about food

I am 2 weeks post op and I can hardly drink any water. It gives me an upset stomach. Pre op I was drinking about 1 1/2 gallons of water and now I can only drink a couple of sips. I am really thirsty and I don't know what to do. Also, has anyone had a problem with the liquid portion of their diet. I am getting nauseous everytime I drink the liquid diet stuff. I want to try food, but I don't want to disrupt my new stomach yet.    — shannon W. (posted on May 19, 2002)

How does water taste? And what is the "liquid diet stuff"?

The liquid stuff is called HMR. It is what my surgeon requires for the first 4 weeks after surgery. It tastes pretty awful. Water tastes SO GOOD!! I really miss it.

I too used to drink a ton of water a day. After surgery, the taste changed and I didn't like it anymore. Now, I buy Spring water and add a slice or two of lemon. It helps mask the taste and I love it again! ( of course I'm going thru 5 lbs of lemons a week!! ;-)
