Question:
Has anyone had a plateau last like 3 months?

I am losing some inches but I feel like such a failure,I even think the Dr. is thinking I am a failure, I have only lost 74 lbs in 10 months and I still have like 125 to go, Granted I have went from a size 30 to a 18 but I am so tired of failure. Stacy    — Stacy W. (posted on April 5, 2002)

Hi Stacy: 74# in 10 mos is alot more than you probably would have lost without the surgery....I am so thankful for every pound or even ounce as far as that goes, cause that means that I am just one more pound HEALTHIER....I have only dropped about 10 pounds in the last 3 mos, but I would never have been able to do this without surgical intervention...Keep up your proteins, water, walking and you'll just wake up one day soon MANY pounds lighter. Keep faith in the procedure that your doctor provided for you...I am SO thankful to my surgeon, I feel that even if I washed his feet everyday for the rest of his life that would not be appreciative enough in my book.....KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!! 8 mos post op and down #116

I just broke a 5 month plateau! I kept changing my eating habits, experimenting with different things and one morning last week...down 5 lbs!!! I lost about 120 lbs in 8 months then stopped...I think my body just wanted to "hang out" at one weight for a while! Be patient, I'm always amazed by how our bodies can trick us! If you're doing everything correctly (water, protein, exercise etc) the scale will move once again! Good luck!

Keep your chin up - the scales will eventually move! Some folks don't want to hear this but.....are you supplementing protein? For 6 months I felt like the PLATEAU QUEEN. My doctor didn't recommend protein supplements. I researched protein supplements on this site and decided to try them. Well, I never had another major plateau since supplementing protein. I've been at goal for several months now and I still supplement my protein every day. I supplement 60 grams a day. Some folks have a hard time finding a supplement they like but I figured I could hold my nose and drink it if it was going to mean an improvement in my weight loss. It didn't take long at all for me to find one I liked and I'm pretty sure you can too. Don't get too discouraged. You're already a winner and a success story simply because you had the courage, drive and determination to have WLS. I am VERY proud of you!

I am in the same boat !!! I had surgery 8/6/01 (8.5 months ago) and am down only 69 lbs. One girl who had surgery 1 week prior to me has lost over 145 lbs. She started out heavier than me so maybe that has something to do with it. I am discouraged, but I realize I am healthier now and feel fantastic even with the 69 lbs. I am no longer on BP meds or Oral Diabetes meds. Getting off the meds was my main motivation for having this surgery. I will admit, I need to walk more. I just haven't. Once I do that ... I am sure I will start losing. I have lost around 2-3 lbs in the last 2.5 - 3 months...but, I FEEL GREAT !!!

I just broke a five month plateau about two days ago. I had been fluctuating by two or three pounds for those months. Well I got on the scale and realized I dropped four pounds in the past week! I'm now 16 months post op and was afraid I was finished losing. I still have about 20 pounds I desperately want to lose, but now I have hope that it can still happen. You're only 10 months out, you will still lose more weight, just keep doing the right things and you'll lose when you least expect it. Good luck.
