Question:
insurance
Have any of you had your insurance pay for a tummy tuck and breast augmentation either separately or at the same time? Is it possible? I'd love to start the process in a few months. I'm five months post op. Please let me know. — Annie H. (posted on March 28, 2002)

Hi, I have Horizon BCBS/HMO in NJ. My tummy tuck/hernia repair was covered
with no problems. My surgeon was very specific with his coding and sent a
lot of info to the insurance including pics. He said that your apron has
to hang down below your vaginal area, mine did. I was approved in a week.
I would also gather any info from your pcp if he has treated you for any
skin infections under the roll. Send in too much info, rather than not
enough. Good luck. Oh, and by the way, it is very painful, just be
prepared.

I just was informed today that BC/BS will cover my abdominoplasy but not
the mastopexy (breast lift). They asked for documentation of non healing
and/or significant funtional impairment. My PS documented the amount of
pannis present (to mid-thigh) and my GYN documented needing antibiotics for
recurrent abcesses in the groin. It was sufficient for them to cover. I
am very pleased and scheduled for surgery in three weeks. :)

Does anyone know if Tricare Prime will cover any of the plastic surgical
procedures needed after a gastric bypass????? I am in desperate need of a
response. I can't seem to find anything out from Tricare.. Thanks Janis
