Question:
I have had the BPD and my surgeon wants me eating a high fat diet with 90 - 120 grams
of protein and 15% of my diet to be carbs. I need help with what I can eat on a daily basis. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or a web-site that I may visit for this particular procedure? Thanks much in advance! Donna — Donna W. (posted on January 10, 2002)

Hi! I am also a BPD/DS patient and I eat as much fat as I want. You
absorb virtually none of it, so it doesn't hurt you. You want to watch out
for "fat free" products as they are actually WORSE for you in
that they often contain high sugar - which can slow down your weight loss.
"sugar free" is much better. However, you CAN eat sugar without
worrying about dumping - that is not an issue for BPD/DS patients.
For excellent info on the BPD/DS, check out http://www.duodenalswitch.com -
there is a link to an excellent yahoo group that I've been a member of for
2 years now. Hope to see you there! (the support group can help answer
nearly any question you can imagine!)
