Question:
United: Has anyone with united healthcare been approved for a tt and/or breat reduction?

This same question was asked on Dec. 28th - you can find it by going to the
last 300 questions at the top of the q & a page when it comes up. I
believe that most of us that answered have not had any luck getting this
covered by UHC. Our insurance will NOT pay for any surgery to remove excess
skin as a result of weight loss.

I didn't notice this question asked on 12/28/01 as I was IN THE HOSPITAL
HAVING MY LOWER BODY LIFT AND REVISION OF MY TT! United Health Care paid
for this as well as my Brachioplasty, Mastopexy, and original
Abdominoplasty. They were very responsive, gave verbal approval over the
phone w/i days, and no appeal was necessary. I'm guessing that all
policies are different but I know other DS pals who have also had the same
excellent insurance service from UHC.

Isn't it amazing how the same insurance company can have so many different
options? I know of some people who couldn't get UHC to cover wls and I
didn't have a bit of a problem getting it covered. And some people are
getting plastic surgery covered also. The best thing to do is to consult
your benefits book or call the number on the back of the card to find out
if it's covered. I hope you have better luck that I did, ours is iron clad
and written in very specific language that it isn't covered.
