Question:
Has anyone been able to take Inderal LA after RNY?

I was put on this medication for rapid heart rate due to thryoid problems and control of my blood pressure. I have tried to go off this medicine, but I am getting the rapid heart rate back. My doctor did give me other meds (tenorman) to reduce dosage over 3 week period which I thought would take care of the rapid heart beat. I feel good on this med. and I would like to continue taking inderal LA.    — Pam W. (posted on October 19, 2001)

Hi Pam..I take Inderal LA 120mgs for a rapid heartbeat also. I am preop and was wondering the same thing as you.I also take another med to control my BP at the same time.You probably can still use the Inderal but will have to use the regular pills instead of the LA type due to the fact that it is released over time in the intestinal tract and you will not get the full benefit from the dosage.I would talk to your surgeon about this, but that is what I have read on LA meds.
