Question:
If your company has an exclusion and the surgeon says he would perform a revision
for free...when its submitted for approval...what are the chances of a success. if only the hospital needs to be recovered..I know this is unheard of but the surgeon says he will not charge for him doing the revision.. — tylerswife (posted on May 16, 2005)

just a guess on my part, but if they won't pay the surgeon they probably
won't pay the hospital and you will have to do that out of pocket. and they
won't likely cover any comlications either.

It's the procedure they approve or deny, not individual portions. On a
side note, why is your surgeon offering his services for free? Did he mess
up? If he is willing to do the surgery for free, could he possibly
persuade the hospital to do the same? I wouldn't think so, but then I've
never heard of a surgeon donating his time either.
