Question:
I am almost 8 months post-op, down over 130lbs, feeling great,
Howeer I am freaking out a little cause I find myself eating more, for example, I can eat a 10 ounce lean cuisine, is that too much, or am I ok with that?? I haven stretched anything have I? — tylerswife (posted on September 4, 2002)

I am just a week over 6 months post-op down 114 pounds and I can eat maybe
3 ounces at a sitting, providing I don't drink with meals which I made the
mistake of doing for a while it really slowed my weight loss down too, I
don't drink any liquid during eating and set the timer for 30 minutes after
eating before I drink anything .. are you drinkjing with your meals?

I used to obsess about this too. I have always been able to eat a larger
amount than most post-ops as far along as I am (7 months.) I finally
figured...I have lost 153 pounds in 7 months so I have to be doing
something right. Even if I am not one of those people that eat 3 bites and
are "so stuffed" I am eating SO MUCH LESS than I used to. I told
my boss today that I was craving a taco and she said "you can eat a
WHOLE taco?" Well before I would have had a huge burrito, plus rice,
plus a quesadilla, plus chips. Do the cottage cheese test if you are
really worried. =) You will probably find that your pouch is still small,
you are just pushing food down into your intestines when you eat a larger
amount.

I am almost 8 months out, and I have also been worried about how much I can
eat now.I thought my weight loss had stopped, and I was getting terribly
depressed, however I stepped on the scale yesterday & weighed in at 200
lbs !!!!!
[My starting weight was 308 lbs]. I don't ever remember weighing 200 lbs,
except maybe when I was born, LOL.
Anyway what I want to say is that even if the weight loss stopped here, we
are in better health now than we have been in years.
The good news is that our window of opportunity is supposed to be up to
18-24 mos.
So if your losing only a pound or two a week at 8 months, thats still
great.
If your worried about your pouch size try the cottage cheese test. Good
luck,

Rebecca, I think you are fine. just think as a pre op you could've eaten
3-4 of those 10 oz portions. Like the other posters say, DO NOT DRINK 30
minutes before, during, or 30 minutes to an hour after a meal. This flushes
out your pouch faster and makes you hungry faster. GOOD LUCK!
