Does the amount of protein you eat have anything to do with the amount of weight
loose or how fast or slow you loose it? — Brigit B. (posted on June 2, 2001)

Excellent question, I've often wondered that. Seems when I'm low on
protein intake my weightloss slows to a crawl. Interested in any ideas out
there.

well to my understanding if you eat a diet high in protien low in carbs
than it forcesa your body to burn the fat it has stored...but it you he
more carbs then protirn the body has no need to burn its
"reserve" since you are providing it with "fresh" fat
to burn ( that is part of why the ever popular low carb diets work well to
loose until you begantto eat normal again and you blow back up!)

Yes, very much so. Depends on the type of protein you're trying to get.
Protein supps mixed in a 0 calorie medium, like water or Crystal LIght,
will help the wt loss for many reasons. It helps satisfy cravings by
nourishing thoroughly and in small volume. Taken shortly before a meal, it
takes the edge off hunger, so you eat more slowly and less volume. It
works in the muscle, so it "allows" the fat to go, by keeping the
body convinced that is it filthy rich in nutrition. For me, it works as an
antedote to any bad eating habits that try to sneak back into place.
because I feel satisfied (cuz I AM good & truly nourished), then I am
less likely to be lured by something that will damage my wt loss. However,
I cannot say the same thing about protein foods at all. Just doesn't have
the same effect at all.
