Question:
Need info on specific NYC plastic surgeon.

Has anyone heard of or used Dr. Fredric Joel Cohen? He has offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn and his rates (as seen in the Post) are very reasonable. Thanks.    — kelleykeith (posted on July 12, 2004)

I have been investigating Ps for quite a few months and have not heard of this Dr.. I know that Dr. Leitman reccomends Dr. Abramson and Drs. Kurian and Roslin reccomend Dr. Jetter. I noticed that your insurance is Oxford. here is a Lenox Hill PS named Glasberg who is in the Oxford network. I aaaaaam using a PS who is also a family member, and would not feel comfortable reccomending him until In have my own PS next month. I would be a little skeptical of a Dr who advertises. Good luck!!

Kelley, I asked several doctors at a well known hospital where I do research no one heard of this doctor. However, make sure you do your homework - check him out - try typing his name in google, and look him up in the physician desk book (I don't know the site, but they have one). I am skeptical about ads in the Post, but that does not mean he is not good. Remember you are in control - these types of surgeries are more serious than WLS. Also, ask your surgeon, most WLS doctors know good Plastics to refer you to. I know you might want to save $$$ but sometimes spending a little more is worth it.
