Question:
Embarassing, but going to ask it anyways; protein shakes & foodstamps
This question is kind of embarassing, but I'm going to ask it anyways. Is there anyone in the state of Illinois who can tell me if you can purchase protein powders, shakes, or drinks with foodstamps (the link card)? I am recently unemployed & had to sign up for public assistance & unemployment until I can get back on my feet, and I would really like to keep up with nutritional intake, but obviously it's more expensive than I can afford right now with my limited finances? So if anyone from Illinois or any other state for that matter can answer this question for me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. And happy losing! I know it is possible to buy protein shakes at grocery stores and even
Wal-Mart in ND and MO with foodstamps. It helps a lot with those spendy
shakes. Good luck!

Another suggestion: No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast stirred in
milk with about 1/3 cup of powdered milk stirred in to boost the protein
count. Not the greatest, but will help you get your protein in and is
readily accessible in most grocery stores.

yes you can , its not always the best stuff, but, heres a neat thing, one
of the gang in my support group told me that one of the larger health food
stores took food stamps, and she was able to get the designer whey and such
there.... might bwe worth looking into , ( this in in missouri)

If you are on several kinds of public assistance, are you also on Medicaid?
I know Medicaid will pay for just about everything so long as your doc
prescribes it. Because this is a health issue, I don't see why they
wouldn't.
