Question:
I am 3 months post op - lap rny.
I have lost 90 pounds in the 1st three months. I am a 45 yo male who began the wls journey as a relatively "light weight". I was 317 and am now down to 227. I feel good (and look good, if I may say so myself). I never thought I would lose this fast. I have never gotten sick (i.e. thrown up), and I *may* have dumped once on an eggroll. I get my protein in every day - most days anyway. My lab results a few weeks ago were all good (slightly low in iron, but not too bad). My biggest problem is I can't seem to get enough clear liquids in. Am I losing too fast? Should I just enjoy it while the weight is melting off? Anyone else afraid they were losing too fast? Temple- that is absolutely magnificent weight loss! You should be so proud
of yourself- and you sounds happy- that's great! Just like you mentioned- I
would enjoy it while you can. As a lightweight myself- I started at
250lbs, and lost 30 the first month, then 10 each additional. So as you get
closer and closer to your goal, the weight loss will slow down, so don't
worry about losing too fast b/c yur body will catch up! Especially since
your labs and everything have been good, you're on a roll! It is hard to
get fluids in, especially at first. I even love to drink water, but still
had a difficult time b/c you have to wait 30 minutes after a meal, you
can't gulp, etc. It gets easier. I just make sure to always bring a drink
with me where ever I go, even on 5 minute errands, so I'm always drinking-
that has seemed to help. Also, if you are having problems with what to
drink and are sick of water, try adding lemon or orange to it to fruiten it
up a little. Or crystal light, even diet snapple (my doc says that is a
good way to get in fluids). I personally just drink water alone- I love it!
Goodluck to you- you're doing excellent!

UGH! Men are so lucky! I have noticed that the men in my support group just
lose faster than the women. What is your surgeon's opinion of your weight
loss? I drink a shake (Real Meals) in the morning so that i can get a ton
of fkuids in before lunch. If I eat I can't get it in. Also I eat dinner
early enough so that ican pound the fluids between dinner and bed time
again. I seem to get it all in finally! It took me 2 months of effort to
work up to a good amount of water. Also try something other than water. I
have nosugar Iced tea (20oz) once a day to break it up a little. Good Luck
and CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am glad that you are feeling so great about
yourself. Nice, huh?:)

Hey Temple....enjoy your weight loss. If you are really worried, check
with your doc. Yes, we men do lose faster (sorry ladies) but I don't think
you should be concerned. I'm almost two months out and have lost 47 lbs
(basically a 1lb a day) and hope to be close to your weight loss in another
month! Well, if its only 60 or 70 I'll still be happy. Good luck and
happy losing.
