Question:
Will I have trouble with my insurance?
I am anxiously awaiting my first appointment to see about surgery. I have Cigna HMO and the doctor I will be seeing is listed in my book. I weigh about 260 and am 5'6" and have tried consistently to lose weight and gained it back plus some. I have proof from Doctors that I have been on and off dieting since 1993. I see in my insurance papers that surgical weight loss can not be covered unless it is "MEDICALLY NECESSARY". I know my BMI is about 42. I would hate to get my hopes up and it not happen. The other thing is that I am a student in college and I would hope to be done with surgery in time for fall semester. Is that an realistic expectation?
