snacks: deli turkey slice on Rye Krisp cracker, topped with cheese; 3
tortill chips with 1/4 c. chili beans, topped with cheese; string cheese;
fat free cottage cheese; leftover meat 2-3 oz. wrapped in a lettuce leaf;
beef hot dog/no bun; ground lean hamburger over tostada shell with salsa
& cheese; chicken salad or tuna salad on a cracker (I use fat free
miracle whip, sparingly & add pickle relish); deviled eggs; hard boiled
egg; scrambled egg whites; beef jerky :-)

I like to snack on soy nuts, especially the honey roasted kind.

I buy a big bag of frozen shrimp at Costco, defrost a couple at a time and
have with spicy cocktail sauce. Roll up a slice of lean turkey and lite
jarlsburg cheese with a dab of dijon mustard in the middle - two rolls will
do me. 1/4 cup cottage cheese with cinnamon sugar made out of cinnamon
and Splenda. String cheese or lite mini baby-belle cheese. Almonds or
even other nuts sometimes. Simply Jif (low sugar) peanut butter on reduced
fat wheat thins. Store bought turkey meatballs ( ican't remember the
brand)with marinara sauce and some parmesean cheese, Boca Burgers (loaded
with protein, possibly an acquired taste), with melted cheese on top. 1/2 a
protein bar with a 1/4 cup of rasperry white chocolate Dannon lite yougurt.
This is the stuff I live on. If I need something sweet a 1/4 cup of
watermelon as a treat does the trick!

Yes, I know the watermelon has nothing to do with protein. :) But,
considering I have an almost wholly protein diet - the watermelon seriously
is a treat. And yes, even post-ops deserve treats!

I was in the produce section and came across all the "tofu" and
"vegi" meatless products like hotdogs and sausages as well as
Macaroni and cheese, Pasta and "chicken" and "chicken"
patties. All of these products are very high in protein. The sodium
content on the hotdogs are up there too, but if you only have one it is not
too bad. I have not tried them yet since I'm still in my soft foods stage
but as an easy way to get 23g of protein from eating one hotdog... I'd try
it.
