Question:
I'm almost 6 months post-op and thinking....
I started out with a BMI of 87 and I looked on this site to find out the schedule of weight loss. According to this chart, I should have lost 200 pounds by month 5. I've only lost 120 (I know its only a guide and that everyone is different). I began at 500 and now weigh @380 or so (haven't weighed myself in a few weeks). My question is this: I had open RNY. What happens when I don't lose all 370 pounds? Can I or should I have a revision? I know I'm a bit early post-op to consider this, but I am seriously wondering!!! I think this surgery was the best thing to happen to me so I wouldn't hesitate to do it again - but when? How many years after my initial surgery do I have to wait? Anyone have any guidance?? — Pamela P. (posted on June 6, 2002)

My advice is CHILL OUT!. I know, easy for me to say, but if you work the
program the weight will come off. My surgeon reminds us if we get
discouraged to go back to the basics. The basics for us is 4 bites
protein, then 3 bites crunchy veggies, then 1, yes I said 1, bite carbs if
you have room for it. Chew every bite 25 times, wait 3 minutes between
bites. Now, don't you think I do this every day, of course not! I usually
gobble my food down way too fast. But when I get frustrated with no weight
loss on the scale I will try to get back on the wagon. Your weight will
come off! Good luck
