Question:
Will this work to decarbonate pop?

is it true that once you "pour" say diet sprite over flaked or chipped ice it will no longer be carbonated. This being due to the crushed ice having such a high water content. I am hoping for a yes answer. I am 9 wks out.    — Leigh S. (posted on December 30, 2001)

I had (VG) surgery 11/12/01. I drink Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi all the time. I pour it over ice and stir, stir, stir until no bubbles are left. I taste slowly to make sure the carbonation is gone. Tastes great to me. Also, fountain soda from BK or Mickey D's usually have less, maybe from the ice and stuff. I can order one of them and then wait a few (15 or so) minutes and it is fine to drink, no stirring needed. Hope this helps.

You did mention Diet Sprite, which would probably be OK. But check any pop for caffeine levels. I know that colas usually have lots, as does Mountain Dew.

In a word -- NO. To "decarbonate", use a blender. At 9 weeks I was IN LOVE with Crystal lite and crushed ice. Makes me thirsty just thinking about it. Good luck and God Bless!

I was told by my doctor not to consume caffiene for the first six months and not to drink any carbonated drinks for at least the first year. I love soda and it's hard but I rather go without than jeopardize my new pouch.

To de-carbonate pop, take two glasses, pour the pop in one glass and then pour it all into the secound glass. Keep going back and forth, pourint it from one glass to the next for about 3 - 5 minutes and the carbonation will be gone. This way you are only dirtying an additional glass, not a whole blender.

Hi, Letting it sit, or pouring it over ice is the best way to de-carbonate soda. I always grab a big gulp from 7-11, and having a lot of ice in it, makes it tolerable.
