Question:
Where can we get pre-packaged vitamins packaged specifically to meet WLS post-op need
I will be traveling out of the country for two weeks in August and would like to find someone who sells supplements in daily packets formulated specifically for WLS post-ops. Does anyone know where I can buy these? I searched the databases but couldn't find anything on this. — SCbabe B. (posted on April 15, 2004)

I would love to know this myself. I can't believe someone has not cashed
in on that one yet. I will certainly be checking back to see what you find
out. Good luck and god bless.

This link is to a place that sells everything needed for the bariatric
patient. They sent my doctor some samples and with the exception of the
calcium they all taste great. The mint calcium is like Altoids (the have
chocolate too, but I don't know about the taste).
All the vitamins are pre-digested, so it is formulated so bariatric
patients absorb all the nutrients.

When I travel--which is alot for my job--I package my own.
At many craft or bead stores, you can buy small plastic bags--about 2"
by 2". Then I do a small bag for each day of the trip. Its wonderful
and I'm sure to be taking exactly what my doctor wants me on.

I am taking Optisource. It is specially made for bariatric patients. You
can only get it online at Walgreens.com It's a chewable vitamin that has
everything we need. It's good tasting too. They are not pre-packed. Hope
this helps.

My local GNC carries small plastic pill cases for $1 apiece. I have seven
of them, and once a week I package up the week's worth of vitamins and
calcium. The box has six compartments--one each for my morning and night
vitamins and then four for my calcium supplements. Every morning, I just
take one of the prefilled boxes, swallow the morning dose, and put the
pillbox in my purse for the rest of the day. Works like a dream whether
I'm traveling or not. The hard case keeps the pills from breaking, and
it's always obvious to me what I've taken and what I have left for the day.
Lots cheaper than buying fancy, overpriced, prepackaged vitamins.
