Question:
Do you use protein powder?

My nutritionist mentioned that protein powder can be purchased and mixed in a drink. She said it was tasteless. I don't see many talking about it. Does anyone use this?    — Kimberly J. (posted on July 2, 2003)

hiya~ yes it is recommended by most surgeons that post op patients consume protein powders because it is difficult to reach the necessary protein intake just through food. i use two different types that are pretty close to "tasteless" plus a chocolate variety. i also use some that are more like juice. you can check out my supplements on my website, in the files section at: www.geocities.com/katebme2002 hope it helps, kate

There are two tasteless powdered formulas you can get from vitalady.com. They are Pro-Cel and UpCalD. You shouldn't boil them but other than that I think you can use them in anything. Best wishes to you!

I tried Procel. It was a small container with a big scoop and you had to use 4 scoops to get 20 grams of protien. Everyone said it had no flavor, but I could definately tell it was in whatever liquid I mixed it in. I always had an after-taste.

This website has great prices one several different types of protein. http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/aftrack.asp?afid=84264 Her shipping rates are very reasonable too. I make shakes out of the Champion Pro Stack in chocolate and they are delicious. Good luck, Cindy

GNC has a tasteless protein powder, but I have not tried it yet. I've read from some people who add it to their foods and even the moring coffee with no difficulty other than a slight texture change. Good luck.

Vitalady.com sales samples for $1.99 each if you want to check out the varieties before making a big purchase. She does have plain (unflavored)varieties, but she also has many other flavores from swiss chocolate and strawberry ice cream to banana cream pie. I purchased a lot of the samples and found the ones that I really liked before ordering the 2-5 lb bottles. She usually ships UPS in 4-5 days, but I understand that she is a week behind right now due to illness and other limitations. Good luck in your search.

You will find that protein needs to be the first thing you think about everyday as it takes protein to burn fat. I drink a protein drink (Carb Solutions from Walmart) put 2 scoops with a cup of water in a blender and there you have 20grams for breakfast, then I eat the bars put out by the same "Carb Solutions", they come in blueberry, peanut butter, chocolate walnut, etc, they are the best I have tasted so far and they have anywhere from 21g to 25g per bar. they have become my mainstay when it comes to getting the protein in daily.

I use Procel and Upcal from vitalady.com. I find it the easiest way to get more than enough protien.
