Question:
I tried a single french fry two days ago, and it caused me to dump. Two days later..
I'm still having trouble keeping any foods down. Even things I've eaten in the past with no troubles put me in bed, miserable. I'm seven weeks post-op...is it normal for a single dumping episode to last this long? — photographer45 (posted on April 30, 2002)

True dumping is caused by eating simple sugars, which causes water to be
pulled into the instine causing cramping, sudden watery diarrhea and
sometimes a dizzy, shaky, sweaty reaction. What you're describing is not
dumping. It could be that you have a stricture or something else is going
wrong. At any rate, symptoms like what you're having should be reported to
your surgeon. Please do it tomorrow. You do need to get this checked
out.

When you puke you upset and inflame your stomach. When I puke i go back to
pureed bland food for 2 days and it is all gone. try that. Don't forget
your water and protein. If that does not help see your DR.

My surgeon said not to eat fried foods since the fat could cause cramping,
nausea, and vomiting. I haven't tried anything fried, but have heard
others say that even 2 fries caused them nausea and vomiting. I was told
to stay on liquids for 48 hours after any episode of vomiting. Hope you
feel better!
