Question:
Do you ever have days when you are just so hungry you could eat all day?

I am only 15 days postop and today experienced so much hunger that I am getting concerned. I was fine in the morning and early afternoon. I had breakfast, protein drink, and a late lunch of soup, 2 saltines and string cheese and then a popsicle. An hour later and I was ravenous. I ate dinner of refried beans and shredded cheese, was not full, drank water, was not full, had another popsicle, still not full, had a sf jello, not full. Here it is late evening and I am so hungry still! Help!    — Marian H. (posted on August 15, 2001)

I feel that way at about a week before my period. On those days I take careful measure of my food and use every bit of willpower I possess not to graze. I call it the "bottomless pouch days"

I too feel that way the week before my period!!!! I used to be that way before I had surgery but it seems stronger now that I have had surgery!!!! I too try to be especially careful and try not to graze. One month I actually gained 5 pounds because I wasn't careful! As frusterating as it can be, it does pass within a few days thank Goodness!!! Just try to find something to take your mind off the food. Get busy doing something that you have been putting off that is time consuming. That always helps me to get my mind off eating. Now that I am 8 months post-op, I really do see that the surgery is just a tool to help us. I will always have to be careful not to graze and eat the right things because if I don't watch it, I will not be able to maintain my weightloss. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

I'm the same way. I've found that really focusing on protein, upping my protein to 75 or 100 grams on pms days, and making sure I get enough water, really help to ward off the munchies for me. I also try and keep bags of rice cakes i the pantry. I call them my "food substitute". Keeps your mouth busy and crunches good, even if it has almost no taste or food value. The good news is, it's only one or two days a month.
