Question:
For Tummy Tuck or Panniculectomy PostOps....
After surgery and swelling went down, how many pant sizes did you drop? I just recently got approved for a panniculectomy and was just curious. Thanks! 13 Months Post-Op -174 lbs. — Shavonne P. (posted on September 25, 2003)

I went from a VERY tight size 8 to a size 4 in about 5 weeks post-op.

It totally depends on you, how you are built, and how much of an abdominal
apron you have hanging. I am one of those people who have larger thighs
and butt compared to my waist. Before my TT, the waist of my jeans were
always very loose because I had to buy them to fit my butt and hips. I was
in a very tight 10 and mostly 12's. Now, post op, I am in a very
comfortable 10 (though I'm only 4 weeks out and still have swelling) -- I
also had some outer thigh lipo at the same time). My *apron* removal was
only 2 and a half pounds. The big difference is that my tummy is totally
flat! Remember the old commercial where they'd ask if you could *pinch an
inch*? Well, before TT, I could *grab a slab* - a very hunky roll.....now
I can't even *pinch an inch* on my stomach! People always used to tell me
that I didn't need a tummy tuck because it looked so flat -- but that was
because I wore either very tight support panty hose or a girdle to hold it
in. Now it is flat as a board without anything....and I'm on my way to the
mall right now to buy some low-rise jeans! Good luck to you!

While I'm only 5 weeks post op, my Surgeon removed 18 lbs. of skin through
my tt and belt lipectomy. I was wearing an 18 before surgery (which was
large in the waist to accomodate my stomach and legs) and I'm now buying 14
and 16 pants. I could probably get into a 12 if it weren't for my nasty
thighs! I think this PS stuff can be addictive!!!

I had a lower body lift in February. My doctor removed 20 pounds during the
surgery, mostly from my panniculus. Before PS I was wearing anything form a
tight 18W to a 22W. After the swelling has gone down, I've lost about 12
inches in my hips and can wear a 14 from Lane Bryant and a 16 in
Misses...which are getting a little big. One word of advice...try not to
buy too many things while you're still swollen... you won't wear them very
long!
