Question:
who does your aftercare when you get home?
ok, you south of the border experts! you have given me great advice, so tell me: when you get home after surgery, who does your aftercare? my pcp isn't familiar with wls complications, etc. but could possibly help. or do you need a surgeon for aftercare? thanks in advance! darci — darci T. A few things simplified my aftercare (which was important to me because I
had spent so much of my adult life avoiding doctors). 1. I switched
primary care physicians to a member of the pre-op evaluation team used by
my surgeon (my new PCP is a gastro-enterologist who is very familiar with
WLS). 2. I kept all of my follow-up appointments w/ my surgeon and
consulte with the office whenever I felt that there was another medical
condition that might require a prescription (I particularly wanted to be
very careful about what meds I could take and my surgeon's office is
spectacular in giving that care). 3. I regularly attended support group
meetings (2x/month) to anwer all of my nagging general questions.

I think you are asking about aftercare from the people who have had surgery
in Mexico. Find Latrisha Nickel on here and e-mail her. She will be happy
to tell you all about it. Good Luck!!!!

My surgeon has a wonderful aftercare program. I saw him at 1 week, 3 weeks,
6 weeks, now 3 months, then 6 months, 1 year. Each time I go, I also see a
nutritionist, and can go in to see the nutritionist (which I have) outside
my doctor visits. I have read so many comments on here by people who seem
to have no aftercare program with their surgeon, and I feel sorry for them.
This has been such an important part of my progress since my surgery on May
13th. Make sure you ask you surgeon what kind of an aftercare program
he/she offers, and good luck!
