Question:
Am I hurting myself by swallowing the big Calc Cit + D pills?
I am 1 month post op, and when starting the Calc Cit + D I tried crushing (oh lordy what a terrible taste) and got brave one day and tried to swallow one and it went down fine, so for the last few days I've been swallowing them. Will this hurt me? Sorry for a silly q. — Kimberley E. (posted on January 10, 2003)

If you can get them down then bully for you! LOL I don't think they will
hurt anything especially since they dissolve so darn FAST (I have trouble
swallowing pills and they are usually half dissolved before I can get them
down--YUCK!). I take the liquid but that is because I have so much trouble
swallowing pills.

Take any pill you doubt, and put it in a little water. If it is completely
dissolved in 10-15 minutes, you are safe to swallow it with water, this is
my opinion. I have swallowed all my pills whole since 10 days postop.

I use the chewables (can only find them at Wal-Mart though). Unfortunatly,
I can't even swallow iron pills, they get stuck, so I do chewables or
liquid everything. As long as it doesn't hurt, I say go for it.

As a previous poster said if it disslves in water in a short time you will
be fine. I had a hard time with chewables and liquids and I started taking
the pills at just a couple weeks out and have had no problems at all, it
seems with all my vitamins they have become a meal for me. I put them all
in a pile at the beginning of the day on my desk at work or the counter at
home and then I remember to take one each time I pass the pile. Works good
for me..... Good luck.

I take Seasilver and it covers all my vitamin needs. The best part
is......it's LIQUID! It also tastes very yummy. Just like drinking
cranberry juice. You can find it at seasilver.com. I get mine through a
gentleman in my support group who takes it. I have felt so great since
starting this vitamin. It also washes out all the toxins in your body. It
cost a bit more per month.....but well worth every penny and then some.
Good Luck!

My doctor said it is not good to take big pills. He suggested I chew tums.
It has all the calcium you need and will help the stomach.
