Question:
What the absolute highest protein foods to eat ?

I am 1 year post-op and lost 120 lbs. I have not lost any weight since this past July. I don't overeat, never finish my small portioned meals. I know I need more protein and to drink more water. What are some high protein foods I can eat to help with this plateau? I still cannot tolerate most meats. I DO eat fish, eggs, tuna, cheese, etc, but need some new food ideas. I am getting tired of the same old food. Any new ideas would be helpful! Thanks!    — Laurie L. (posted on November 22, 2002)

Try my absolute favorite. SHRIMP with a little heinz cocktail sauce. Just take them from the freezer, though in cold water for about five minutes and enjoy. These little guys are loaded with protein, no fat, no carbs, and your weight loss will start again. Good luck

I know they aren't technically food, but if you just want to add protein to your diet, protein shakes are probably your best bet. The ones I take have 32 grams of protein per shake with only 2 grams of fat and less than 1 gram of carbs. You'll be hard pressed to find that in any food. Oh, and I love shrimp too, but watch the sugar in the cocktail sauce!

I like crab legs (4 oz - 14g), fresh tuna (3oz - 20G), steamed shrimp (2g each), baked chicken (3 oz 20G), lowfat swiss (1 oz 8g) I got my numbers from fitday.com and rounded to the nearest whole number per portion.

Beef Jerkey has 15g or so per ounce. Check the label because the carbs are different on the different flavors and brands.

Do one Ral Meals shake a day, it has 60 grams of protein. Make sure to split it into two shakes because you will only absorb 30 grams at a time. Go to www.protein-solution.com there is a comparison chart for protein.

hi there! :) some very high protein low carb things i eat are, shrimp, beef jerkey, cottage cheese, string cheese, nuts, sardines, fish, turkey loaf. the turkey loaf is like 140 cals per 4 0z and has 20 grams of protein. i like it alot and handle meats well but the turkey loaf id have to say isnt the most agreeable meat ive ever eaten. i just go slow and cant eat alot of it. i get the white meat one. they are pretty inexspensive too. you can buy one for like 2.50 or 2.99. shrimp is one of my favorites and when im out ill get a chili from wendys. good luck to you.

I am still on full-liquids but I found a hot drink that has 41 grams of protein... I take the chocolate carnation instant breakfast, 6 tbsp of nonfat dry milk, and 1 scoop of my protien powder and mix it with 1 cup of warm skim milk. It tastes like really chocolatey hot chocolate and since surgery I get cold really easily so it also warms me up.
