Question:
Should I wait to have a TT?
I have lost 120 pounds and currently weigh 220(man). My DR always said he wanted me to end up at around 200. So I have about 30 to go before getting there. Here's my delima. I will need a lift on my stomach, my legs and arms (I have LOTS of skin). How long should I wait before trying to get the TT done? If I went for it now, would I feel like I will need another one later on? Any advise? Thanks! — Robby E. (posted on November 11, 2002)

I just recentely had hernia repair and abdominoplasty. My plastic surgeon
had suggested that I wait until I was 20 or so pounds away from my goal
weight before I considered surgery. I was actually 30 pounds away from
goal when I had surgery. The hernias started to cause me pain and the only
way my insurance would pay for both procedures was if there were done at
the same time. So I had them done before I reached the "within 20
pounds" mark. Everything has worked out OK though. You should make
an appointment for a consultation with a plastic surgeon to get the ball
rolling, especially if you want to try to get your insurance to pay for it.
Wishing you the best!!

Get within 20 pounds of your goal weight before having the tt. That's what
plastic surgeons advise.
