Question:
How can I up my weight loss ?

I'm 8 weeks post-op and I've only lost 38lbs. How can I up my weight loss. I need to lose at least 12lbs in the next 4 weeks and don't know if I'll make it at this point. I'm still on pureed, but I can eat about a cup at a time. I don't feel full. I do walk also and work. Please help.    — Wendy N. (posted on August 15, 2002)

I am in the same place you are. I am 8 weeks as of today and I have sldo lost 38 pounds. Wishing it were higher but....I am patient. It is almost 5 pounds a week! So if you keep it up you'll met your goal. I also am starting some basic weights this week. That should boost my loss and help me tone. Not much of an answer but at least your not alone. By the way I am not a lightweight just a slower loser. Best of luck.

Hey, keep your chin up. You are doing just fine. I know this probably isn't the answer you looking for, but there really is only so much you can do. One, get in all your protien. Two, drink all your water. And three, exercise. If you are doing those three things, then you are doing exactly what you need to. Walking is great exercise, but you might want to start weight training. The most musles you have, the faster you will burn calories. Be patient, everyone is differant and you are well on your way to your goal. You have to start somewhere.

I'm 8 weeks and have lost 37 pounds. Here's my question to you: WHEN, IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE, DID YOU LOSE 38 POUNDS IN 8 WEEKS???? And this is the weight loss that will, in all liklihood, be permanent. Give your body a chance to do what it needs to do. As for any deadlines you've set for yourself, they're man-made and have no bearing on what your body will want to do. Good luck.

I am also 8 weeks, and have lost 38#. I know that most of us want to see it off like yesterday, but what is the rush? Why do you have to lose 12# in 4 weeks? My doctor said I was losing too slowly, and that was by following his directions to the letter. You are doing great, please don't do anything to jeopardize that and your health. Would you rather lose quickly and be flabby, or a little slower and be able to tone up as you go? Do you want to lose very fast and run the risk of complications that might not otherwise happen by letting your body decide what it is ready for?
