Question:
Transected RNY - Proximinal Is it possible to need a REvision? Plus new Insurance!
And, My company has changed insurances since my original surgery a year ago, I now have United Health Care of Ohio & Tricare (retired military). Has anyone needed a revision and had to deal with new insurance companies for the coverage? — chance2lv (posted on June 20, 2002)

Hi Karen. I can't answer your first question, I just don't know the answer.
But I needed a revision because I was not transected and developed a
staple line disruption. I'm now 3 weeks post op from my revision; I am now
transected and doing great. As for the 2nd part of your question, I
switched employers between my original WLS and my revision. I had no
problem whatsoever getting approval for my revision from my new insurance -
the Staple Line Disruption was causing extreme pain (acid) and it was
deemed medically necessary - even though I didn't gain any weight from it
yet(but I'm sure I definitely would have). Good luck to you!
