Question:
Protein Drinks and lactose intolerence...which are best?
I'm 10 months post op and am going to retry protein drinks. I tried isopure early on and got bad stomach aches...as I learn about my system post-op I've determined I'm lactose intolerent. There must have been lactaid in the isopure despite me mixing it with water? I mostly want a good tasting one (not too thick..) as a meal replacement. I'm doing the Atkins thing until I shake the next 20-30 lbs or so and am having a hard time with the higher fat products and dairy you can have on the diet. And I'm SICK of pure meat/egg meals. Anyone have any suggestions on lactaid free protein shakes that taste pretty good? (not asking for too much...am I...lol) Any input would be greatly appreciated. -Kim open RNY 7/17 -109 — KimBo36 (posted on May 13, 2002)

I guess you tried the powdered Isopure. Have you tried the Zero Carb
Isopure ready-made? It looks and tastes like koolaid. Every flavor I have
tried tasted good. I especially liked the raspberry, and I hear the
apple-melon is really good, too, but I can't find it. Also, I have some
spirutein unflavored powder that is milk-free. You can mix it with
anything--I'm thinking some orange juice and fruit with ice would be tasty.
Have you tried lactaid or soy milk? Just watch the sugar on the soy stuff.
Hope this helps!

Have you tried the Iso in recent times? How much did you make up? the 2
scoop way or the 1 scoop? There are a gazillion good whet products on the
market. Perhaps you could start over and sample a few more? Did you like
the flavor & texture of the Iso?
