Question:
Is quiche a good choice for a meal?
I am almost 3 months post-op and was able to eat a whole large slice of cheddar and swiss quiche and a few spears of asparagus for lunch. I am a little worried about how easy it went down and I never did feel full. Is quiche something that generally goes down that easy? Is it a good choice for a meal? Is it a good source of protein? — KimBo36 (posted on October 9, 2001)

I've been meening to try quiche. I've never had it before. With eggs and
cheese it sounds like the ideal protein meal to me.

It is good, but watch out for the fat content. The crust can be chock full
of butter & stuff. I bet it goes down smooth, though, and you can just
skip the crust! Yum!

I LOVE quiche, and make my own. It's an excellent source of protein, and
freezes well. If you're concerned about the crust (I'm not), you can make
it without a crust. Then you're eating pure protein. It's great!!

Quiche can be a great source of protein. I make a crustless version that
is more of a mexican frittata (sp?). I take a few eggs, add a bit of fat
free creamer and scramble in a skillet until partially cooked. Sprinkle
the top with shredded mexican cheese and queso (mexican) cheese and slices
of fresh tomato. Stick the skillet under your broiler for a few minutes to
melt the cheese and puff up the omelet. Slice and serve!<p>
You can also add meats like bacon or prociutto (great source of protein and
low in calories) or whatever you like. I add diced serrano peppers, green
peppers, red peppers or whatever...just for fun and color. Have fun
experimenting.
