Question:

Sorry this will be long. I had an Open RNY (157 bypassed) on May 8th, 2001. I was 319 and got down to 156. Usually flux between 157-163. I like to eat 4-6 meals a day. I'm to hungry at three. Rather have more little meals without stuffing that three big ones. Anyway, before WLS I used the CAD diet and lost 25 lbs in 12 days. However I never did seem to lose after that. Now I've done Atkins many times in the past but only once got into Keosis so it was'nt worth it. Plus I could'nt get bread and potatoes out of mind. So CAD is much more easy. However CAD is two meals without carbs and the last meal you can eat whatever you want. I have questions for anyone who may have done this diet SINCE WLS. 1). Can you do six meals a day. That is two without carbs, the third with carbs. Then two more without and one more with? I've been on CAD for since Monday and with three meals I'm so hungry and nasty that I'd kill and eat anything that moves, including all my animals. I'm so bitchy and mean to them as all I can think of is food. The three meals is'nt working. Plus I'm sick of two egg whites and two sausage links for breakfast, And alittle beef and string beans for lunch. It is almost impossble to avoid carbs in two meals! Plus breakfast is to gressy and I don't enjoy it. 2). Has anyone lost with CAD and kept it off SINCE WLS? For those of you who may wonder what CAD is, here is the web site. http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/ 3). You are not supposed to have artificial sugar and/creamer other than the reward meal! I'm lost without coffee. I usually drink 7 packs of artifical sugar and some creamer. I've cut down to two with alittle extra creamer. Don't know if this is going to throw it off so I can't loss. I gained 6 pounds over the holidays with enjoying candy and cookies. USUALLY I can have some and leave it alone. However this holiday, I did this to many days in a row now the cravings are back. I am determined not to feel guilty over this as guilt only makes getting up off my duff and getting my sh## back together harder. I fell off the wagan, but I will NOT be defeated! I worked to hard to let it get the best of me. However I feel like a junkie who is sweating out the next fix. Some of this is actuall hunger, but I'm betting most of this is head hunger. Anyway I'm trying to detox from the sugar and carbs... but the hunger and my nastiness is not good. (I hate to be an ornery you know what). I like to think I'm a good person most of the time but the pain is incredible. I had assumed after being good three days the cravings would leave. IF they don't, I'm not going to be able to hold out much longer. Any ideas how to get back on track? We all have different personalities. Some need a kick in the pants. THat does'nt work with me. Maybe it's because of depression... so encouragement works for me. By the way, not long ago I would have felt guilty and gone into eating big time. Now I'm determined to say, "oh, you blew it. So what, get back up". So that is how I look at it. Any ideas? Especially for those of you who are on CAD? Thanks. Oh by the way... no I don't exercise. :( I have'nt had any energy since wls, plus I've had 15 surgeries (16 coming up next week). And it's way below zero with the wind chill. And moving with stiches does'nt feel good anyway.    — Danmark (posted on January 14, 2004)

Daniel: Try to hang onto your "detox" plans. Pre-op, when I did Atkins for a while, the first 4-5 days were HELL. I felt dizzy, had a headache, felt like I was in a fog. I didn't think I would make it through those days without a "carb fix" but I did, and then felt much better on about the 5th or 6th day. I thought it would only take 3 days (as the Atkins info stated), but for me it was longer.<p>I want to thank you for being here on this site. I see many of your posts, and I feel you are very courageous, given what you've been through. Best of luck to you on your next surgery, and I hope that your recovery is swift and total.
