Question:
Will a double chin go away without surgery?
I'm alitte over 5.5 months post op and I'm down 105 pounds over all. I hope to lose 190 pounds, so I'm 10 pounds over half way to goal! :) But although my face was the first area that slimed down, I "still" have my double chin. Anyway, I really thought it would have disappeared by now. Will I have to have liposuction on it, or will it likely go away by the time I reach goal (provided I can reach goal)? — Danmark (posted on October 27, 2001)

my friend has lost about the same as you and she also has this problem, i
have lost 65 and mine went away so it all depends on the person. I know
with her alot of hers now is just skin and it doesn't go away on her.

I had more chins that a chinese phone book prior to surgery. Since I have
lost 110# I am down to 1 and some flab on my neck. I have 90# to go, so I
expect it will tighten some. Certainly it will vary from one person to
the next. Congrats on your loss!

I agree that everyone is different. I was one of the lucky ones that the
double chin went away. If you click on my profile you should be able to see
the difference.

It's a wait and see game. It's impossible th predict how drastic
weight loss will affect an individual body. This means absolutely
nothing. But, after my sister lost 110lbs (by dieting) she had more
of a double chin than she had when she was fat. Plus she ended up with
jowls that she never had before. She lost a lot of weight in her face
and neck and now she certainly....at age 42....needs a major facelift...
which no insurance will cover. It seems that we all end up with some
"problem area". Mine is my butt. I lost evenly everwhere and
I'm thrilled
that my abdomen is a flat at a teenager's. (my surgeon is astounded by
that!).
But I have a fat "hump" on each of my butt cheeks that no amount
of exersizing
will do away with. My sister jokes (I think she's joking!) that we should
find
some plastic surgeon who will pump the fat out of my butt...and into her
face.
AAAAhhhhhhhh....the joys of wls.
