Can someone explain carbs in protein drinks?
The powder I have is low in cals 300, low sugar 3 grs, high protien~45 grs., low fat mixes in water put it has 27 gr. carb is that to high for a back up drink once in a while? — [Anonymous] (posted on May 12, 2001)

You'd be wanting something that is under 200 cal/per 30g of protein, under
6 of sugar and generally toward 10-15g total carbs. Sounds like you have a
total meal replacement--does it say MRP on it? Or pehaps a heavy weight
gainer product? We need to be fairly careful in selecting our products and
look for key words, like lactose free and such. Also, there are very few
pre-canned products we can use without study. If it's in a grocery store,
PROBABLY not, as Slim Fast has the same sugar as a real soda and not much
food value. The same is fairly true of Ensure & Boost type products.

if you are looking for a good tasting protein drink shake or bars.. you
should try Herbalife products.. they have been around for 22 years.. and
that is what they are known for high protein low carb... i have a shake
once a day along with their chocolate coconut bars.. yummy... if you are
